Feel free and connected to nature
Where to camp? What's the rules in Norway?
In Norway we have something called "Allemannsretten", translated to "the right to roam". It is a principle that allows for everyone to have access to and use of nature and wilderness areas, included private and puplic lands, forest, and mountains, regardless of land ownership. The right includes activities such as hiking, camping, berry and mushroom picking, fishing, as long as it is done in a responsible and respectful manner and does not conflict with the right of landowners or the general public. The principle of "allemannsretten" is deeply ingrained in Norwegian culture and is seen as a way to promote outdoor activities, connect with nature and enjoy the country's natural beauty.
It is not allowed to drive off-road. Please stay on designated roads and park in areas that do not disturb nature, wildlife, or other people. You may sleep in your car in designated parking lots or rest areas, unless signs indicate otherwise. There are many beautiful campgrounds throughout the country as well. You are not allowed to stay overnight for more than two consecutive nights in the same place, and not closer than 150 meters from the nearest neighbor or building.
